A Calgary business with a second office in the United States lost access to their network shares and server applications after their VPN connection dropped. We attended onsite the same day, confirmed local network and internet service were healthy, and traced the fault to the OpenVPN server running on the office router. The certificate the server was presenting no longer matched the profile the remote office was using, so every connection attempt failed during the handshake. We exported a current client configuration, reconnected the remote site, and verified full access to shared drives and the company database. We also recommended a dynamic DNS hostname in place of the hard coded IP address so a future ISP change will not take the tunnel down again. Fast diagnosis and clean remote access setup keep multi site businesses connected and working. Another successful project delivered by Tech Support Calgary.
